What is the difference among Editing, Proofreading, and Editing + Proofreading?
Although these are similar services on the surface, the amount of intervention decreases with the type of service in the following order: Editing + Proofreading > Editing > Proofreading.
Under the Editing and Editing + Proofreading services, we check spelling, punctuation, consistency, grammar, syntax, logic, clarity, information structure and flow, technical terminology, and style as per the style guide (e.g., AMA, APA, IEEE) or journal. The only difference between the Editing and Editing + Proofreading services is that under Editing + Proofreading service, your manuscript will be reviewed by an editor–proofreader pair.
Under the proofreading service, we check mainly for consistency, grammar, and terminology. Style-related changes are not made. Please contact our Client Servicing team for further details.
Is a document also formatted according to the journal guidelines under the editing service?
No, we do not format documents under the editing or editing + proofreading services. You can add in our publication support package to these services if you want your edited and proofread document to be formatted as per your target journal guidelines.

By contrast, open access journals charge authors an article processing fee. Hence, the authors need to pay these charges themselves; therefore, we do not include them in our fee.

I asked for a quotation but haven’t received it. What should I do?
During business hours, we try and respond to all customer requests or queries as soon as possible. However, if you have requested outside of business hours, then we will respond as soon as we resume work. If you have not received a response from our client service team, please check your junk mail or call our client service team.
Why do I need to send a reference file and is there any specific format for these attachments?
Attaching a reference file (such as figures, tables, and response to reviewer comments) is recommended because it provides editors with proper background knowledge of your research, enabling editors to efficiently edit your document. Note that the word count of the reference file will not be considered in the total word count.
How is word count calculated?
The text, tables, references, and mathematical formulae are conventionally included in the word count, unless instructed otherwise by the customer. If you wish to exclude certain parts of the document, you are requested to specify accordingly. The parts of the document to be edited will be considered in the word count, and the fee will calculated accordingly. Word count of the reference file will not be considered in the total word count.

You can make changes to your paper if you like. However, we highly recommend that you get these changes checked by us before submission.
If the amount of changes are less than 10% of the original word count, the revised text will be edited free of charge. If the changes amount 10%–20%, you will be charged a heavily discounted fee. For changes amounting >20%, your case will be treated as a new case, and you will be charged the regular service price.
